Brent L. Coltharp is the third (and last) son of Bill and Sharlene Coltharp.
Graduating from East Aurora High School in 1988, Brent began answering the call of God to ministry by attending Texas Bible College in Houston, Texas. After two years in Houston, he transferred to Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Theology in April of 1992. A few weeks following his college graduation, he married Rachel Fortner of Houston, Texas. They began preaching throughout the United States from 1992 until he was elected Associate Pastor of FAC in December of 1996. It was during this time period that Brent and Rachel began raising their four children: James, Reagan, Lincoln, and Grant. Pastor Brent was elected Co-Pastor on January 17, 2000, a position he continued to serve in, until transitioning to Lead Pastor on January 1, 2008. Brent enrolled for graduate studies at Wheaton College, where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2001, earning a second Masters Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from the Wheaton College Graduate School in 2006. Currently, Brent is continuing his education at the Regent University School of Divinity, where he is nearing the completion of a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) Degree with a concentration in Leadership and Renewal. Brent frequently preaches, teaches, and writes in a variety of contexts. He has also served in various ministry and administrative roles: as the Illinois District Youth Secretary and Illinois District Youth President, as a Presbyter on the Illinois District Board, as an Adjunct Professor at Gateway College of Evangelism, on the Points of Refuge oversight committee, and was North Central Regional representative for the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) Media Missions. Currently, Brent continues to serve as Lead Pastor of FAC Aurora, as the Vice-Chairman of the Gateway College of Evangelism Board and as the District Superintendent of the Illinois District UPCI.
The youngest of five children, Pastor Bill Coltharp was raised on a farm in Myrtle, Mississippi. Upon his High School graduation in 1956, he moved to Aurora, Illinois, where he met and married Sharlene Campbell of St. Charles, Illinois on July 11, 1958. Bill worked at Western Electric from 1956-1978, save for a two year period upon which he served in the Army from 1960-62. While in the military, he received his calling to ministry. He began preparation for ministry by attending evening college classes, through personal study, and with hands on involvement at FACAurora, under the direction of founding pastor, Billy Lewis. Bill first served as Youth Minister, then Sunday School Superintendent, and eventually as Assistant Pastor to Pastor Lewis until 1968, when he assumed the pastorate of the First Apostolic Church of Sandwich, Illinois. He served the First Apostolic Church of Sandwich until 1974, after which he returned to assume the pastorate of FAC Aurora. The church experienced great growth and revival during his tenure. Currently, pastoring with his son, Brent Coltharp, he has made no plans to retire from God’s service unless health would deem it necessary. His heart continues to be with FAC Aurora and he plans to spend his remaining days serving his community.
Bro. Andrew and Sis. Chelsea Coffield joined our staff as Student Pastors in Fall 2015. Bro. Andrew began his ministry at the age of 16, preaching and leading worship at his local church and school. From there he attended Indiana Bible College where he feels his life was shaped and molded, and ultimately he felt the call towards student ministry. Upon leaving IBC, Bro. Andrew was blessed to minister all over the United States and some 5 different countries. During that time he was also able to assist in student ministry and started a campus ministry at Oakland University where he received a BA in Psychology. Sis. Chelsea began her ministerial journey at a young age singing on the praise team and teaching youth sunday school. From there she attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, earning a BA in Fine Arts which has transformed her creativity to the point where she is a highly sought after graphic designer.
The Coffield’s are both very passionate about student ministry and global missions. It was on the missions field that Bro. Andrew and Sis. Chelsea met each other, and they will tell you there are places around the world they hope to travel to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, students have become the heartbeat of their lives. We are excited to have them here at First Apostolic Church of Aurora and know the Lord will use them in a great and powerful way as they minister to our youth.
Jessica Graham serves as Executive Assistant to Pastor Brent Coltharp. She grew up in Aurora, IL and was loved into the FAC family at the age of 16. Several years later she married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Graham, who started attending FAC as a child on the big blue bus. They are both products of the loving hearts & hands of the FAC church family.
When not coordinating the nuts and bolts of the FAC office, she is busy teaching Sunday school, singing in the FAC Choir, part of the praise and worship team and chasing around her two beautiful children Ronnie and Nevaeh. Some of her hobbies include painting and using her creativity to make new uses for old treasures.
